Great weekend with Carlos. He is such a perfectionist in the techniques of inversions he does not miss a detail. These details are the way to do safe inversions and build confidence. He can get any determined yogi upside down:)

Carlos Mendez should be someone who is traveling around the world and teaching everyone how to do a handstand. He does teach you three defining skills to get you into a handstand:

  1. Patience – Just because you can get into a “handstand” he will break down all of the components you need to work on before attempting it full on.
  2. Acceptance – “I’m not afraid” is the biggest lie we tell ourselves. We need to accept our fear and then take Carlos’s teachings on how to fall correctly to prevent injury.
  3. Hard work – He gives you all of the tools you need to nail a handstand, the only trick is YOU have to put in the effort.

I met Carlos back in 2012, where he worked with me intensely for six days in an attempt to teach me a free standing hand stand….he succeeded. To this day, I have only ever met a couple of people who are absolute geniuses at teaching, meaning – when the teacher is no longer around, the student has a solid understanding of the skill taught and can go on practicing effectively for continuous improvement, Carlos is one such teacher.

Carlos taught me inversions practically from scratch. He is infinitely patient and generous with his time and enthusiasm. He gave me progressions to practice at home and always encouraged me to keep going even when results took a while to show up.

My name is Manon and I am 15 years old. I am dyslexic and dyspraxic. Being dyspraxic means that I have difficulties with coordination and balance. The owner of the studio introduced me to Carlos because he knew Carlos had worked previously with people with balance problems. Carlos worked with me only for one week, but I saw huge improvements in this time. Now with the benefit of Carlos’s tips, I can lift my leg up and hold it for extended periods of time. I am grateful to Carlos for helping me!

Carlos is a knowledgeable teacher who has found a great niche teaching handstand inversion. I found his techniques different from what I’ve learned elsewhere and highly effective. In only one class, I am floating. Highly recommended for the intermediate to advanced practitioner.

I was definitely a little dubious….. Head stands….hmmmm.

Well it surpassed my expectations. Carlos uses building blocks to gently teach inversions, he knows exactly what each student needs and guides them safely through the learning process.

Carlos is an inspiring, humble and passionate yoga teacher, who is excited to share his guru’s teachings and his personal experience. His clarity and calm assurance made the workshop a unique and rewarding experience. His workshop helped me improve my practice (a lot of valuable practical tips), plus his kindness, love and energy inspired me in many more ways.

A little over 2 years ago a friend talked me into going to one of Carlos’s handstand workshops. At the time I really didn’t have any desire to do a handstand, in fact, being upside down created a lot of anxiety. However, after that first class I was hooked. Carlos is an amazing teacher. He is intuitive and treats each student uniquely addressing their specific strengths and challenges. I’ve become a lot stronger, learned a lot about myself and can do a handstand!
